Obtain Sponsorship
Following attainment of your registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board NSW, you can apply for positions offered in SESIH. After an interview, either in person or by telephone if you are overseas, the hospital will forward a recommendation to sponsor you. A Nomination Approval will then be sent to you in order for you to submit an Application for a Long Stay Temporary Business Visa (Form 1066) for a stay of between three months and four years. Information is provided on the Form 1066 and by SESIH, which will clarify your part in the application process.
How long does the sponsorship process take?
The sponsorship process, including health tests can take up to 10 weeks from the time of your initial hospital interview. If you are already in Australia, you should ensure that your visa remains valid for this period.
In some cases, where your visa is nearing its expiry date, it may be necessary for you to apply to DIAC for a "bridging" visa. If you have already been interviewed by one of our hospitals and recommended for sponsorship, the Application for a Long Stay Temporary Business Visa (Form 1066) may be considered your "bridging" visa. Note: This will allow you to remain in Australia, under the terms of your existing visa, until such time as DIAC has considered and actioned the "bridging" visa application.
