The Role of the Registered Nurse and Midwife in Australia

The Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council (ANMC) has developed and published competency standards for registered nurses. These are core standards that all nurses must meet and they assist in indicating the scope of nursing practice in Australia.

Competency standards for midwives have not yet received the endorsement of the Australian College of Midwives (ACM).
